Season 3, Lesson 2: Once in a blue moon.
The goal of this lesson is to help you learn the expression “Once in a blue moon.” [Meaning: Rarely, infrequently.] For example: “Winning the lottery only happens once in a blue moon.”
Part One: Listening practice. 100 repetitions, some slow, some normal speed. Just listen—and don’t hesitate to listen to the 100 reps several times. Get the sounds in your head. We’ll practice with this sentence: “That only happens once in a blue moon.”
Part Two: Backward buildup. This is a technique to help you memorize text. (See season 3, Lesson 1)
Part Three: Listen and repeat the sentence. I’ll record it at normal speed with 25 repetitions.
Part Four: When you’re confident, check your pronunciation with a native speaker if possible.
